Words fail me. Almost.

Just had to pop in to vent some spleen. I was driving home with FB this afternoon when we drew up alongside a van owned by one of those companies that walks your dog for you when you are at work. I can't remember its name, but I do remember its strapline:

"We can be their for your pet's when you can't"

Painted! On the van! By a (presumably) professional signwriter!

I am proud to say that I pointed this out to FB and he snorted in disgust. "A superfluous apostrophe! Those really annoy you, Mum".

Too right, son of mine. (He spotted the other error too, but his Superfluous Apostrophe Alarm had gone off first.)

Oh, and did I mention that Every Word Had A Capital Letter Too? Grrrrrrrr..............

  2. I can't bear it. I absolutely can't bear it. I have to go for a lie down.

Oh no! What if I see that van myself?! It'll ruin my year!

  3. Don't know whether to laugh or cry. Good for FB. I had to practically threaten my daughter with death before she would pay attention to either apostrophes or homonyms.
ps I had to look up the spelling of homonym. Senior moment. Next thing you know I will be painting words on vans.

  6. I was at my favorite cupcake bakery yesterday and noticed that a sign by the register was incorrect. Luckily, it was hand-written, so I pointed it out to the owner and she fixed it with a Sharpie.

  8. I saw a stray apostrophe on a plaque once. A newly engraved plaque. In a SCHOOL.
