Attention, assistance needed

Every year in October Husband has to go to Geneva for a work thing, and every year so far the organisers have managed to plonk the conference in the middle of the school October holiday. Husband has therefore missed out on the holiday and we have had to work around his absence.

This year, however, the timing of the conference is perfect so we are all going with him. He will have to spend one day doing boring stuff but we will have three or four days as a family in Geneva. Whee!

Here's where you come in: any of you been to Geneva? Can you recommend hotels? Things to do? Places to go? Places to eat? Or indeed where not to do any of the above? All info gratefully received.

PS First Born nailed the shoe-lace tying after two attempts. He's so smug it's painful.

  1. How fun!!

Wish I could help but my recommendations are limited to Berlin, Munich, Stuttgart and Vienna. I've been to Geneva once but it was very briefly...it's beautiful though!

    ENJOY!!

  2. "Every year in October Husband has to go to Geneva for a work thing..."

It's a tough job, but I guess someone has to do it!
I was jealous till I discovered that in Geneva in October the temperatures are about the same as mid-winter where I live, but Geneva only expects 4 hours of sunlight and the chances are about 1 in 3 that a Geneva October day will be wet!!

  3. I wish I could help you, but I've barely been out of my country (does Cancun count?). Hope you get some good recommendations and have a great time.

  5. I had to go to Ingliston for a work thing today. It was RUBBISH. Geneva sounds better. Can I come along as the babysitter?

(Now you know that architect wasn't a proper prison architect, don't you? It's like being able to say "shibboleth" (though possibly not spell it). Architects should know about chips.)

  6. Well done FB! The dragon has been faced down and vanquished.

I remember learning to tie my own shoelaces - I think I was taught the cheat's method where you make two loops and tie them in an overhand knot. Looks much the same but requires less dexterity (and I've discovered that my husband STILL ties his shoes this way). I would've suggested this as a stopgap had FB not mastered the proper version already.

Never been to Geneva. I believe there's a lake...
