Astonishingly, the boys scoffed them down without complaint. Plates were licked clean. Huh.
So if I understand this correctly, expecting my sons to eat anything green is completely unreasonable. However, offer them something that looks like a Play-Doh meal concocted by an enthusiastic three year old and they're sold. I am now waiting with bated breath for the invention of fluorescent pink cabbage.
We grew large quantities of Arran Victory potatoes this year, which are purple on the outside. But sadly they don't stay purple when you cook them - and it's only the skin, so the mash is white. They do make good mash, though.

I can't seem to find purple potatoes, though sometimes we can get purple potato chips (crisps to you).
ReplyDeleteIt's odd what kids will choose to eat. My grandson seems to prefer Tabasco sauce on everything.
Did it taste like regular mashed potato?
ReplyDeleteInteresting. I've bought purple potatoes before (a different variety) and when I cooked them, they turned gray.
ReplyDeleteNever seen them before, and if they taste just like normal potato, then why not just have potato? Apart from the novelty factor of course.
